Digital Art Projects
a few projects I created in college using openFrameworks
Remember
Remember touches on Alzheimer's Disease. Every time the user clicks on each new 'remember' button, the video playing includes less and less information. The project emulates what it may feel like for one with Alzheimer's to forget how to remember.
Hearing
Hearing is a two part project in which two different applications communicate with each other. In this case, Hearing tries to bring to light the struggles of the hard of hearing through the simulation of two people messaging each other. What one app types, the second completely misinterprets.
I've Heard That Before
I've Heard That Before plays on the idea of sampling - and sometimes copying - in music. With a layout inspired by the iTunes album screen (circa 2016), the program allows users to select a song to play. When a user clicks on one song, the program plays a different, but very similar sounding, song.
Sound and Color
Sound and Color explores the concept of synesthesia and how the mind connects different concepts such as emotions, size, color, and music. As the user moves their cursor, different songs play depending on the rectangle’s colors. As the number of rectangles increase, the volume of the song increases as well.
Emotive
Emotive is a project where a facial recognition system logs one's facial expressions and tries to differentiate them. As it is doing so, it also begins to play music the program believes to be associated with the expression on the user's face. For instance, if the program thinks the user is sad it will play music in a slow minor key.
